Was sitting watching the rains, mesmerized, thinking about water - how beautiful it is and how eaqually devastating it is...noticing the raindrops falling and splashing..when finally I shook myself out of the watery trance and froze the splash ...

Management lessons


Another good manangement lesson...from my pop in law in continuation to the other management lessons that he forwarded me before

Once Pappu started praying to Ravan and after 1 year Ravan was very happy from the bhakti of Pappu.
Then Ravan decides to give 3 vardans to Pappu.

RAVAN: Say vatsa! What you want?

PAPPU: I want 100 vardans.

RAVAN: But I can give you only 3 vardans

PAPPU: But I want 100 vardans.

RAVAN: No child that’s not possible.

PAPPU: No I want 100 means 100

RAVAN: No I can give you only 3. If you want then take or else I am going.

PAPPU: Ok! But what 3 I will ask, you will give me definitely?

RAVAN: Sure it's promise from Rakshas Raj Ravana.

PAPPU: 1st vardan, convert your GADA on shoulder to wooden bamboo stick.

RAVAN: "Tathastu" and his gada turns into a stick.

PAPPU: 2nd Vardan, put that stick in your ass hole ... deep inside ...!!

RAVAN: (confused but ......) "Thathastu" and in great pain asks Pappu to ask for the third vardan .... ASAP ...

PAPPU: Now are you giving me rest 97 vardans or should I convert that stick back to GADA ?

The moral of the Story: Management will not yield to your simple request until u can give pain in their Ass.

Funny Ads - American Seafood Festival - will Paul be there?

some time back had started something of an ode to all the creative people out there..but I guess technology takes the cake ..or should I say fish / mussel cake in this case..

Paul the octopus..has been the oracle ...predicting the world cup FIFA 2010 winners...Pauls been right till now..very very psychic eight armed fellow I should say...

with contextual advertising or maybe...too many impressions to be burnt on a CPC deal ;-) (dont kill me guys here..wheres your sense of humor)....

Wonder what Paul - Octopus would like to say about the American Seafood Celebration!! of course the celebration is for a limited time only ;-)

Will Paul be a part of the great American Seafood Celebration??
Would he be able to predict this predcament?
Lets watch the news!! better still lets go celebrate!

How green was my valley...couldnt think of any other title so there!

After spending 37 odd years on this planet we call earth, one really comes to know how much we have advanced in tech, thinking, attitude etc...

Was having this conversation with a young chap ...have copy pasted the same...have a look...

when we used to crack this one...we were never asked "should i google it"

Srinath: the other chap usually used to say"orange juice???!!! WTF how can that be a contraceptive"

and we used to say...it is the best one....u have it instead of sex

So there you have it...what was our mindset 20 years back and the present generation....no wonder its sometimes hard to keep up with the Times

Guess this is what free time does to a person!

Nice insight. and thought let me write some of my random views and not necessarily related to what Sandeep says here..guess being almost the weekend and waiting for a vendor to come to the office gives me a lot of free time :-)

Talking from a publishers point of view where when we go out to the marketers / advertisers / brand custodians / ad agencies the challenge for us is to make the above people understand all this. We have been talking this within our industry for quite some time now, and have been patting ourselves on our backs on the insights. I think its high time we go out to these brands and tell them the actual beauty of the online world which includes social marketing, mails, communications, content on demand when you want it where you want it.

Till date brands have been shouting and shouting and like sandeep says..do they really anytime stop shouting and start listening??!!. being and observer and partcipator in a social media networking platform is very good...but what is of social media we see is to be really looked at...do we see it as a platform where views are exchanged or is it just an impersonal mail platform.

The discussions here are a kind of social networking platform which revolves around content...question is how many brands do you think would like to target us guys here :-). Is this the right content for a brand like a shampoo??

Saw an example of seeding questions into a yahoo answers..something that was done on askjeeves about long time back..a very good innovation in the Indian internet scenario. but question is is the brand just observing there or even learning from their mistakes or listening to the people there. Is the brand talking back to the users of that forum or ARE They just looking at the ROIs..how many people registered...I guess the brands and us need to decide first how to use what to use...whether they want quantity or quality..and then what would they want to do about it.

There is no specific point which I am trying to make here. Except that we as an gency publsher brand and consumer are looking at quality and would spend time and money to get the same. whether it would be from a social networking platform - online or offline or from any other medium.

and yes the 30 sec spot, the 100 or 60 cc ad, or that 20 sec or 60 sec on radio, or the billboard that whizzes past you at 15 kmph or 60 kmph(depends on the traffic you know), or that word of mouth from a friend or wife, or that pesterpower from your kid...I guess all these are a part and parcel of social media which reinforces everything..and yes they are more expensive :-)
